Frequently asked questions

The questions we get most about the trip to Boipeba.

How long does the trip from Salvador to Boipeba take?+

Around 5h30 in total across the three legs: crossing the Bay of All Saints (~1h), the road across Itaparica Island and the BA-001 to Valença (~1h50, about 106 km) and the boat crossing from Valença to Boipeba (~1h). Times vary with traffic and tides.

Where exactly is Boipeba?+

Boipeba is an island in the Tinharé archipelago, on the southern coast of Bahia, just south of Morro de São Paulo. There is no access road and no commercial airport — every route combines water and land, which is why the trip takes about 5h30 from Salvador.

Why does the booking require at least 2 passengers?+

It is an operator rule on this route. If you are travelling alone, message us on WhatsApp before booking: we can check with the operator and confirm whether a departure is available for a single passenger.

Do you pick me up at Salvador airport?+

Yes. Choose the 'Aeroporto' pick-up when booking and tell us the airline, flight number and arrival time. Our team waits for you at arrivals. If your flight is delayed, message us on WhatsApp and we will try to move you to the next departure.

Is the boarding fee included in the price?+

Yes. The R$ 310 per person already includes the mandatory boarding fee — there is nothing extra to pay on the day of travel.

What is the difference between Boipeba and Morro de São Paulo?+

They are neighbouring islands in the same archipelago. Morro de São Paulo is busier, with nightlife and more infrastructure. Boipeba is far quieter and better preserved, with almost empty beaches and no cars — it is the destination for travellers looking for silence. Getting to Boipeba takes longer (5h30 against 3h30).

How does the return from Boipeba work?+

The meeting point is Pier Zé da Viúva (Boipeba Nautical Terminal), 30 minutes before departure. Departures at 07:00, 11:30 and 13:30. Note for the 07:00 departure: there is an average 45-minute wait when you reach Ponta do Curral.

Can I go straight from Morro de São Paulo to Boipeba?+

Yes, there is a transfer between the two islands — a separate, shorter service that does not go through Salvador. Message us on WhatsApp and we will put the route together.

Do children pay?+

Children aged 0 to 4 travel free on a lap. Ages 5 to 9 pay half fare. From 10 years old the adult fare applies. Note: the 2-passenger minimum counts paying passengers only — a lap infant does not count towards it.

How does payment work?+

On this route the operator requires payment upfront, so the booking is confirmed with the full amount (Pix with no fee, or card). Confirmation arrives immediately on WhatsApp.
