Before you book

How do I get to Morro de São Paulo from Salvador?
Two main options. The catamaran ferry leaves from Salvador's Maritime Terminal and takes about 2h30 direct. The land-and-boat transfer starts at the airport, crosses the bay by ferry, continues by coach down Itaparica and finishes with a 15-minute speedboat — about 3h30 in total. Morro de São Paulo has no road access, so every route ends on the water.
Which transfer should I choose?
If you are already in central Salvador or Pelourinho, take the catamaran — it is faster and the terminal is 10 minutes away. If you are landing at the airport, or you are prone to seasickness, take the land-and-boat transfer: it picks you up at arrivals and stays on road and sheltered water for most of the journey.
Do I need to book in advance?
In high season — December to March, plus Carnival and Brazilian public holidays — yes. Sailings regularly sell out several days ahead. Outside those periods you can often book a day or two before, but booking online still locks in the fare and the seat.
Can I pay with a foreign credit card?
Yes. We accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex issued outside Brazil. The charge is processed in Brazilian reais (BRL) and your bank applies its own exchange rate on the day.
What happens if the crossing is cancelled for bad weather?
If the Port Authority suspends sailing, we move you to the land-and-boat transfer at no extra cost, or refund you in full. Free cancellation applies up to 24h before departure.
How do I get back to Salvador?
Both routes run in reverse, with the last catamaran usually departing in the early afternoon. If you have an evening flight out of Salvador, book the morning sailing — leaving it to the afternoon boat is the single most common way travellers miss a flight.
